I just finished this video though, and thought that I'd post it on here too. If it's new to you, it's super easy, lots of fun, and makes a pretty Fall decoration.<br />

It was a big process, but things are finally settling down, and I wanted to share what we've been up to lately. North Idaho is beautiful, and we've been enjoying all that it has to offer. This has worked really well, being outside and incorporating more "MOVE" activities into our days, as Landon is getting bigger, and becoming more and more physical.<br />
<br />
So, here are some of the ways that we've been enjoying the <b><i>really</i></b> great outdoors. Hopefully, some of them are possible where you are too. We thought they were lots of fun!<br />

Paint is definitely his favorite medium...I'm sure you're surprised. :) If you're brave enough to pop those acrylic caps, here's a fun way to decorate your house with genuine love this Valentines Day. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Step 1:</b></div><div style="text-align: center;">Let your child paint a large piece of paper. We used<b> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0000;">red</span>, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #663300;">brown</span>,</b> and <b style="color: #999999;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white;">white</span></b>.The great thing about this project is there are no "lines" to stay inside of, or particular shapes or outlines to create. Just let your little one enjoy covering the paper with color!<br />
<br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Helpful hint: Paper Plates make great paint trays (in a home or in a classroom). </span> </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5437091399224357810" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYIUfHxCHUiZ7lmxokg8A3r01M6hYuIbEgNaqm_S4q1k1T92NC4N1s0ZlZAnBkT27WHsvmeX3NBSDX5sUoiTDWHBu3QEyXS3LyXdvJzzpuGPqOzEtvfhlMqd-_nBsZQVbBpRWegA1b9Fw/s320/101_0062.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 240px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 320px;" /><br />
<div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Step 2: </b></div><div style="text-align: center;">Trace various sizes of heart-shaped cookie cutters all over your child's painting. If your child is old enough, he or she can do this step too. The more mixed colors, the better! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5437091406412105362" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5vTZYA6s_SHMpipSSYaL07tevSu00EZC4rGbdo3Wocz1XL49E8gkVbggESP_GnOSd1fcJFGRYWTqk7BGYHBtfip0VL55QqBvI5hyphenhyphenHYCmCFe9Ur3UePySOR554sdXu88SIZ0Ky6X19AnM/s320/101_0082.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 240px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 320px;" /><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><b>Step 3: </b></div><div style="text-align: center;">Cut out the hearts and find fun ways to display them around your house! Here's my favorite way to show off Landon's <i style="color: #cc0000;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; font-size: small;"><b>love</b></span></i><i><span style="color: #cc0000;">-ly</span></i> art!</div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2OIEiJkXksD6coQOiS_3Ojr2TrXyVaw_vY0LjyaHQzmNYzRsGsrklKpA0_gCi53tottkFkopTsJ9ChI2J28R6V0WUMC2sgYo68kOG95F1pbS3YpmdOBe1ykO_g9zrKxnK9FYMYBlWBaU/s1600-h/101_0088.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"></a></div><div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b><i>'Mama, I'm hungry!!'</i></b> Sound familiar? Well, May (bio below) has a great solution! Her homemade granola bars keep little hands busy and growling tummies satisfied. Thanks, May! I think my ever-hungry kiddo and I are going to make a batch of cran-raisin bars for tomorrow morning! :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Most kids love <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1294718888_0" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent; border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136); cursor: pointer;">granola bars</span>, and as convenient as they are, they are loaded<br />
<br />
with all kinds of extra preservatives and ingredients I can't pronounce.<br />
<br />
Couple that with my 5-year-old's interest in making pretty much anything<br />
<br />
she likes to eat, and away we went to the kitchen to whip some up from<br />
<br />
scratch! They were way easier than I thought and she literally did it all<br />
<br />
herself. All I did was put it in and take it out of the oven!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn4Ea9FcRZiPOPe6u_SroNjZGHtmkcP3yKdk_ECzWWxzqTb_QpZwgBY-GNlwrRSUiyjHjs8-5uhv48mMroigL0sBTRxvHwAEzSKMCo0WJTnRufBEuntZk1wdeyqeNq7uwOkeV-0MIoKH8/s1600/01-granola-bars-01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn4Ea9FcRZiPOPe6u_SroNjZGHtmkcP3yKdk_ECzWWxzqTb_QpZwgBY-GNlwrRSUiyjHjs8-5uhv48mMroigL0sBTRxvHwAEzSKMCo0WJTnRufBEuntZk1wdeyqeNq7uwOkeV-0MIoKH8/s1600/01-granola-bars-01.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Mix 3 cups of quick cook oats, 1 cup chopper nuts (we used peanuts or you<br />
<br />
can leave them out entirely), 1 <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1294718888_1" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent; cursor: pointer;">cup chocolate chips</span>, and 1/2 cup mini<br />

marshmallows. <br />

Then pour 14 oz of <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1294718888_2" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% transparent; border-bottom: 2px dotted rgb(54, 99, 136); cursor: pointer;">condensed milk</span>, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 egg and 2 tbsp<br />
<br />
butter.<br />
<br />
20 minutes at 350, and that's it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLn9aq_hKy2bblVIFdnTJl8Kkz-An6rm92fRYTuvK_PhzEWRBpgdVDlEV_8u09uPFwUsVBvXqX1mgUpwTGpNcwaxS51Vvhh_LW4oGhgw_iPZGTw0y703AwMIzSL2xl9ebNnKsVovu8jEU/s1600/05-granola-bars3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLn9aq_hKy2bblVIFdnTJl8Kkz-An6rm92fRYTuvK_PhzEWRBpgdVDlEV_8u09uPFwUsVBvXqX1mgUpwTGpNcwaxS51Vvhh_LW4oGhgw_iPZGTw0y703AwMIzSL2xl9ebNnKsVovu8jEU/s1600/05-granola-bars3.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This recipe is a great base for adding whatever your favorite flavors are,<br />

so your kids can have their own custom granola bars.<br />

She's fiercely domestic, hilariously traditional, and unexpectedly nerdy. Luckily married to the man of her dreams, she's big on knitting, playing in the kitchen and blogging. Getting crafty with her kids and getting domestic with her husband in the kitchen are two of her favorite things. She is thankful for God in her life and love in her home. She blogs regularly at <a href="http://www.soverydomestic.com/">http://www.soverydomestic.com</a>.FunMomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10661892531633191601noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7533996760153504116.post-87605291141265150062011-01-11T01:07:00.002-05:002011-01-11T01:13:08.646-05:00Move: Wii are Movin...in more ways than one!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoZqu_ZCoipXL_K9mprtC5BTgD5bk3tuoEI7S0wkFSgQ5InU7NLUfu9JTiqAz3QoGG-ZmFaCqLXMpAaT76aryhVvZtyh3ezveXZdPSM0j-J55BlvwYGD_zE23VlDfWS_MMMQd2xBzNfPo/s1600/43077291_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoZqu_ZCoipXL_K9mprtC5BTgD5bk3tuoEI7S0wkFSgQ5InU7NLUfu9JTiqAz3QoGG-ZmFaCqLXMpAaT76aryhVvZtyh3ezveXZdPSM0j-J55BlvwYGD_zE23VlDfWS_MMMQd2xBzNfPo/s200/43077291_1.jpg" width="199" /></a></div>The new year has brought quite a few new prospects, possibilities, and projects into my life. Rather than making a list of resolutions, I began 2011 making a very exciting, but very daunting To-Do list..<i>.paint my trim (again), call a realtor, begin clearing out my cluttered basement, look into school systems 2,700 miles away.</i> Needless to say, while there has still been time for fun in our home, it has been a little less planned out and rarely photographed.<br />
<br />
So, I haven't created personal resolutions this January (no time for that type of deep reflection), but I have determined that winter is hard on little boys...and therefore, moms. Or maybe it's just us...but I bet there's<i> some </i>mom out there that will agree with me, <i>right?!?</i> My kiddo seems to hit a point mid-day when he simply cannot contain his pent up energy anymore, and despite the fact that the couches have never really interested him before, he suddenly sees them in a new, exciting, and opportunistic light....and his body goes flaying over them. Again. And again. And again. So, I have resolved to find a way every day to help my kiddo have some physical fun...for all our sakes (that being his, mine, and the couches).<br />
<br />
So here's a simple way that we're moving around here. For this particular activity, it doesn't even matter if the weather outside is frightful! We're<i style="background-color: white; color: #cc0000;"> <b>movin together, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;">and loving it</span></span></b></i>...in more ways than one! :)<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Pardon the hiatus...we've had some big things going on at our place. We have managed to fit some fun into the mix though! We altered the idea a bit to make our creations into light-catching ornaments. Hope you're having a fun holiday season! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I've been asked why many times. For us, there are several reasons. First, it makes my budget a little bit happier in December. Second, I have more time to enjoy making them <i>(which I love to do!)</i>, and sending them out before the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Third, and most importantly, I love the opportunity to share why Jesus should be the reason for<i> this</i> season too! And, finally, we really do feel so tremendously blessed, we can't help but share it with all of our loved ones!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I don't have your home address, or I'd send one your way. So, this is for you, friend. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

My little boy and I have been calling it our <span style="color: #cc0000;">Mayflower Mercies Ship</span>, and our family has been filling it with notes of thankfulness all week. It has created such a feeling of gratitude in our house, and was fun (and tasty!) to create!<br />

I also used the following book to teach Landon about the first Thanksgiving, and the pilgrims journey on the Mayflower. It's a GREAT resource! He likes it so much I think we're going to still be reading about Thanksgiving in February! :) <b style="color: #cc0000;">If you'd like to be entered to win a copy of this book, simply leave a comment below! </b><span style="color: black;">In hopes to get the book to the winner as quickly as possible (before Thanksgiving?!?), this Giveaway is for today only. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">One of the best parts of decorating for Christmas is pulling memories out of boxes. For me, this means ornaments my husband made in Kindergarten, a 25-year-old nativity sheep missing two legs <i>(thanks to my childhood Golden Retriever)</i>, and a picture of my little boy as a slumpy, sleepy infant on Santa's knee. Why not add some sentiment to Thanksgiving too? Landon and I made this picture last year...there's not much to it, but it made me smile to pull it out of storage last week. I held it for a minute remembering us making it together...how chubby his sweet little fingers were...how proud he was to show it to Daddy later that night. And then, I marveled at how much he's grown in the last year! I found it a place of prominence in our house, where it's bringing smiles to others' faces. :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Step 1:</b> Cover your child's hand in either paint or stamp ink. Help them press firmly onto the paper.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Step 2:</b> Use paint or stamp ink to add a red thumbprint below Turkey's head. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Step 3:</b> Add legs, beak, eye, and year it was done.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Step 4:</b> Frame. Display. Remember. </div>FunMomhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10661892531633191601noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7533996760153504116.post-58429135857527854072010-11-15T17:53:00.001-05:002010-11-15T17:55:21.043-05:00Munch: Cocoa Krispy Turkey Treats<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg7_zZ7YAOcTn8vAJMPMQIcc2WxZtofczQY1VlWsElbndsx8ZeSrKMrp4uiutdz-DDqZi0DpvIE9wmJ8ZjrGJZGiU-sfoAeAnorQfcKcP-ts_QdsRpvPzbs74eG3dDOe8uD1t61oJ1ucA/s1600/rice+krispy+treat+turkeys.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="226" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg7_zZ7YAOcTn8vAJMPMQIcc2WxZtofczQY1VlWsElbndsx8ZeSrKMrp4uiutdz-DDqZi0DpvIE9wmJ8ZjrGJZGiU-sfoAeAnorQfcKcP-ts_QdsRpvPzbs74eG3dDOe8uD1t61oJ1ucA/s320/rice+krispy+treat+turkeys.png" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I wish that I could take credit for this yummy, fun snack. I <i>would</i> give credit where it is due, but the link is no longer working...thankfully I printed out the recipe last year! Landon and I had such fun with this activity! He was a great chef's assistant, a crafty little decorator, and a happy, satisfied snacker!<br />

</i></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Landon and I prepared our shoe boxes for our "Special Time" yesterday, and it was such meaningful, precious time spent together. I explained to him that we were going to go shopping to find fun toys for kids that might not get Christmas presents otherwise. I also showed him the flyer of two children smiling ear-to-ear after receiving their Christmas shoe boxes. With faces put to the mission, he couldn't wait to get started! We spent the rest of the afternoon searching store shelves together for treasures to delight <i>friends</i> (as sweet Landon referred to them) across the world! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Philippians 2:4 says, <i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #38761d;">"Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others." </span></i>This does not come naturally to us. It also doesn't come naturally to our kids (especially when they're standing in a toy aisle...). But, what a great way to teach a biblical lesson! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><b>Fellow, Moms, I challenge you to do this week's MOVE activity with your children</b>.
